- Your phone must have a WAP browser from which it is possible to download MIDLets (Java Applications) according to the MIDP 1.0 OTA recommendation.
- Your phone must be setup to connect to a WAP service. Most new phones come already configured to use the WAP service provide by their network provider. The easiest way to determine the suitability of your phone is to try to download the demo version of an application. If you receive the message "Phone does not support OTA" after step 2 of the download procedure , it means that either your phone will not run Java Applications, or it does not support their delivery by the MIDP 1.0 OTA recommendation.
It is important to make sure that your phone is setup for the correct network, i.e. GSM or GPRS. Some phones are sold setup to connect to WAP by GPRS, even though you might only be able to access it through GSM. The sites above have alternative settings for GSM and GPRS. If your phone does not have the correct settings you will not be able to connect to a WAP service.
