When downloading the settings from certains operators the Settings->Configuration->Preferred access point is not set. This means that although it would be possible to download the Java Application, the application itself would not be able to connect to the internet to perform synchronisation.
We have found that carrying out the following steps sets up a preferred access point that will function:
- Select Settings followed by Configuration
- Select Default configuration settings followed by Options and then Set as default
- Select Default configuration settings followed by Details , and note the name of the Applications Supported (we have found it often to be *Web)
- Select Activate Default in all Applications
- Select Personal Configuration Settings followed by Add New and then Access point
- Select Access Point Settings followed by Bearer Settings and then Packet data access point
- Now enter the name of the application support (eg *Web) and then select ok
- Select back until you see Preferred Access Point , or if you returned to the menu select Settings followed by Configuration
- Select Preferred Access Point and then select the name of the access point you have just created.
